“Prince Zuko, why are we stopping?”

“I saw something Uncle, wait here.”

My nephew then walked over near a tree and picked up something small. It turned out to be a quite nice betrothal necklace. It looked familiar.

“It seems like that waterbender has a really bad habit of losing her necklace… and I have a horrible knack for finding it for her,” Zuko said, stashing it in a pocket.

Ah, yes. That necklace.

“That means the Avatar is nearby nephew, a good opportunity to get a step ahead of Azula.”

Zuko nodded and got back onto our ostrich-horse. We traveled further into the forest, hoping to find any signs of the Avatar and his companions.

“We need to save our energy, Prince Zuko. Let’s make camp for the night.”

Now normally, I would respect my nephew’s privacy, but I sensed that I didn’t know something. Just like when I found out my suspicions were true and Prince Zuko was the Blue Spirit. So a few minutes after he left our campsite, I followed him. He did not think to look if someone was following him; he was intent on his arriving at his destination.

“You left your necklace by a tree last time, Katara.”

It was Zuko’s voice.

“It doesn’t matter now, but sometime, you will have to catch up to Aang,” the young waterbender said moving toward Zuko.

“Or maybe I’ll just have to join you. Azula is after both of us. If we joined forces, we could beat her,” Zuko said, stepping behind her to clasp her necklace back onto her neck. He then leaned close to her ear and whispered, “And it wouldn’t be hard to find you.”

The waterbender had a faint smile on her face as she turned around to face him. It now made sense. We had been finding the necklace more often than usual. The young waterbender would leave her necklace by something, in this case, a tree. Prince Zuko would then meet her secretly that night where he
found her necklace. It was risky; after all, she seemed to be attached to that necklace. Though it seems for her, my nephew was worth it.

They embraced and I began to walk back to our campsite. I thought of one thing: Grandbabies!
